A suspected child kidnapper has been arrested in Ogun State as he attempted to abduct four young girls.
Nurudeen Badmus

A 47-year-old kidnapping suspect, Nurudeen Badmus, has been arrested by the police from the Ogun State Police Command after he tried to abduct four young girls between the age range of 9-16 years, from their village in Abudu community, Iyana Ilogbo, Ado-Odo Ota in the state on Monday, April 13, 2015.
The suspect was nabbed after someone who knew one of the girls saw him with them and asked him where he was taking the girls to.
When Badmus could not give any concrete answer, the person raised the alarm and he was immediately apprehended and taken to the Baale (Chief) of the community.
After he was given a thorough beating, Badmus reported told the Baale that he only wanted to render financial assistance to the girls because they had come to him to request for help.
"They came to me for financial assistance to enable them go to Ajah in Lagos State. I was taking them to Ajah when somebody identified one of them. I am only assisting them."
But the girls refuted his claims, saying that he had told them that their parents were witches and wizards and were planning to kill them.
One of the girls whose name was given as Jumoke said:
"I am 16 years old. Badmus lives near my house. He told me my mother was a witch and that she was planning to kill me. He said I should follow him to a town to escape being killed.
He warned me not to tell my mother. I didn’t know the place he was taking me to. He also tried to rape me but I resisted him."
Another victim, 9-year-old Nimota, also spoke in the same vein:
"He picked me on the road and told me that my mother was a witch and was planning to kill me. He said I should run away with him. I don’t know where he was taking me."
