Muhammadu Buhari has emerged as Nigeria’s President-elect after keenly contested elections on March 28 and 29.
Buhari beat incumbent, President Goodluck Jonathan with about 2 million votes to emerge victorious.

- He is the 23rd child of his father.
- He divorced his first wife, Safinatu in 1988 after 17 years of marriage.
- He married his second wife, Aisha in 1989.
- He fathered 10 children, 8 of whom are still alive.
- His first daughter, Zulaihat Junaid, died from sickle cell anaemia in 2012, two days after having a baby at a hospital in Kaduna.
- His ex-wife, Safinatu died from complications of diabetes in 2006.
