US capital legalizes marijuana
Residents of the state, who are above 21 years of age, can now use and possess of small amounts of the drug without facing prosecution.
The US capital, Washington DC has legalized the recreational use of marijuana.

The legalization of the drug came after it received overwhelming support during a referendum in November 2014.
However, buying and selling marijuana and smoking it in public are still illegal in the state.
Alaska became the third US state to legalize the use of the drug after a decision reached on Tuesday, February 24.
Other US states which allow the recreational use of pot are Colorado and Washington State.
